 The Brighton Transition Learning Center, under the auspices of Brighton High School and the Special Education Department, offers these courses in Life Centered Education to students with special needs between the ages of 18-21 who have completed their graduation requirements, but continue to require support and training related to their Post School Outcome documented in their IEP:

 

COURSE TITLE                                                                  

  • Community Access Skills                       8:00- 9:00 a.m.
  • On-The-Job Training I, II, and III          9:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Independent Living Skills                      11:30-12:30 p.m.
  • Vocational Academics                          12:30- 2:10 p.m.

Students who participate in the Transition Learning Center will receive direct instruction and opportunities to practice life centered functional skills in the domain areas below:

Vocational Academics for Success=Functional Academic Skills

            Independent Living Skills =Daily Living Skills

            On-The-Job Training (OJT) =Employment Skills

            Community Access Skills

            Social, Interpersonal and Communication Skills

            Recreational and Leisure Skills

Direct Instruction and practice in the basic reading, writing, speaking and math skills used in real life adult situations and activities.
